Benchmarks of High-Quality Pre-K
In May 2007, Pre-K Now hosted Benchmarks of High-Quality Pre-K to discuss the key ingredients of high-quality programs and how they can be achieved and maintained. Bob Pianta and Barbara Bowman each spoke on research into the quality factors proven to impact and improve outcomes for children in pre-k, and Kim Means of the National Association for the Education of Young Children outlined her organization's accreditation system and advocacy for high-quality programs.

A number of proposals supporting state-funded high-quality, voluntary pre-kindergarten have been introduced in the 111th Congress. Pre-K Now has analyzed four of the most promising bills: "The Prepare All Kids Act"; the "The Ready to Learn Act"; "The Providing Resources Early for Kids Act"; and "The Universal Pre-Kindergarten Act."
