The Early Childhood and Pre-Kindergarten Initiative is funded by the school funding formula. The FY09 allocation is estimated to increase by $26.7 million for a total of $669 million.
The FY08-FY09 biennial budget, enacted in 2007, flat funds the Pre-Kindergarten Expansion Grant Program and the Texas Early Education Model at $91.8 million and $7.5 million, respectively for FY09.
